Sanwo-Olu inaugurates Pilot Boats, to improve Waterways Transportation….

To achieve the THEMES agenda, traffic decongestion on major roads and encourage other means of transportation in the state, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State has inaugurated two pilot boats as alternative to reducing traffic gridlocks.

Speaking at the ceremony, Governor Sanwo-Olu who explained that his administration was doing everything possible to ensure that the master plan for transportation system is implemented, said it was important to use technology to revitalise the transportation sector.

The Governor said in line with making Lagos State a mega city, his administration  has partnered with the private sector  to make the waterways functional, safe and secure for the populace.

On his part, the Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Frederick Oladeinde, who said government would continue to ensure that movement from one point to another is stress free, urged Lagos residents to support government’s agenda.

The Managing Director, Lagos State Waterways Authority, Mr. Damilola Emmanuel, said the day was symbolic, as it was a development towards the inland waterways.

Correspondent Eunice Olile reports that Governor Sanwo-Olu and some of his cabinet members  took a boat cruise as part of the ceremony.
