Nigeria Records First Death from COVID19 Amidst Five New Cases Confirmed………..Lagos Advices Residents To Stay Away From Beaches, Parks, Tourist Sites.

The NCDC has announced the country’s first death from COVID19.
He was a 67 year old male who returned into the Country following a medical procedure in UK
The deceased was said to have underlying medical conditions- multiple myeloma & diabetes, and was undergoing chemotherapy.
Meanwhile Five new cases of COVID19 have been confirmed in Nigeria bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 35, two have been discharged.
As at 09:45 this morning, the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC revealed on its website that Lagos State had recorded two new cases, the FCT also recorded 2positive patients while the fifth person was found in Edo State.
Two of the cases are returning travellers from the UK.
In a related development in the wake of increasing cases of individuals testing positive to COVID-19 in the Country, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr. Solomon Bonu has advised tourists and residents to stay away from beaches, leisure parks, gardens and tourist sites in adherence to the advice against congregation of more than 50 persons at any location.
While reiterating the importance of social distancing and compliance with the directives from health institutions such as the World Health Organisation as well as Federal and State Ministries of Health, the Special Adviser maintained that residents should remain vigilant and report any suspected cases to the nearest health facilities or call the toll-free line – 08000CORONA.
