Nigerians have been asked to support government at all levels to build a formidable economy that will make life better for the people.

This was the submission of the new Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat at an interactive session with staff in his office, at the Round house in Alausa, Ikeja.

He said that the nation needed to improve on the state of the economy to provide adequate job opportunities for the jobless in the country particularly, the teeming youths.

He explained that with a vibrant economy, more Nigerians in the diaspora especially the youths capable of contributing immensely to the growth and development of the nation would be encouraged to come back home.

Dr. Hamzat called on all Nigerians, Lagos residents in particular, to be diligent in whatever they were doing towards making the society better, in order to create a favourable environment for the younger generation and children unborn to thrive.

The deputy governor however, expressed dissatisfaction at the rate at which the Nigerian youths were leaving the country for greener pastures.

He stressed that if the narrative did not change, the older generation might not have those that would take over governance from them or take care of them in their old age.

Dr. Hamzat also expressed concern at the rate at which the life span of Nigerians reduced by the day due to different health challenges caused by environmental problems and poor health facilities.

He gave the assurance that the new administration in Lagos state, led by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu would work at ensuring that there was an healthy environment in the state and also improve on health service delivery to the people.

He called on the people to support government in all its efforts at making life better for the people.

The permanent secretary in the office of the deputy governor, Mrs. Yetunde Odejayi gave the new deputy governor the assurance that the team of workers in her office would work diligently with him and the governor in their drive to deliver on their mandate to the people of Lagos State.

A special prayer was later offered for a successful tenure for the deputy governor and his team.
