INEC DECLARES SANWO-OLU WINNER OF LAGOS GUBERNATORIAL ELECTION

The All Progressives Congress, APC, Governorship candidate in Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo- Olu has been declared winner in the state’s gubernatorial election.

The Vice – Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University,Ile Ife who was the Returning officer for the Governorship election, Professor Eyitayo Ogunmobodede announced that Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of APC polled 739, 445 votes, while his closest rival, Mr. Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP scored a total number of 206,141 votes, leaving the third place for the Action Democratic Party, ADP candidate, Mr. Babatunde Gbadamosi with 4, 078 votes.

Professor Ogunmobodede noted that the total number of accredited voters stood at 1, 006, 074, total number of votes cast was 998,715, the sum of valid votes was 977, 476, rejected votes amounted to 21239.

Correspondent Christopher Ekuma reports that the exercise was adjudged peaceful and successful by election observers and some other stakeholders except for the general voter Apathy witnessed across the state.
