The Senator-Elect, Abia North senatorial district, Chief Orji Uzor-Kalu says if the South-East is denied the Deputy Senate President position in the Senate, he will run for the position regardless of the decision of the party.
He vowed not to listen to the party or anyone who tries to persuade
him from doing otherwise.
In an interview with Airport reporters in Lagos on his way to the U.S, Dr. Orji Kalu said he was committed to democracy and it would not be fair and just to zone the Senate president seat to the North-East and still want to take the Deputy Senate President seat to the North-west.
He emphasized that he would contest vehemently for the position and lobby other senators to save the South-East for being denied this position and short- changed in this current democratic dispensation.
The Abia North senator elect, said he would fight like nobody had done before to secure the Deputy Senate president slot for the South-East, adding that he was not challenging the party but looking for justice for all.
Dr. Orji Kalu noted that he had worked assiduously for the party, had been loyal to the party and had the capability to
occupy this position.
He noted that the party may have taken its decision but more decisions would be taken on the floor of the House where the party would not be present, adding that it would become the APC versus the PDP.
According to him, for fair and justice which had been the watchword of President Mohammadu Buhari, the country should not be divided by the National Assembly or positions there in.
Dr. Orji Kalu therefore threatened that if the matter was not handled well, he would be forced to contest for the seat of the Senate President.
